The Grounding Spiral Thumb Ring: Hand-Hammered Raw Copper – £25
Designed in my little studio by Loch Goil as a wearable somatic anchor, this bold thumb ring is crafted to be an immediate, highly accessible point of calm. Resting naturally on your thumb, it offers a peaceful moment of connection and grounding exactly when your hands need something to do.
 
This piece is hand-forged from thick, solid raw copper wire. I meticulously shape the double spiral by hand before hammer-forging the entire surface on a steel bench block. This traditional silversmithing technique not only hardens the metal for durability but creates a beautifully organic, faceted texture that catches the light and feels incredible to the touch.
It is intentionally designed to be felt.
Copper is a highly conductive metal that warms instantly to your skin, feeling like a true extension of your body.
When your mind feels scattered or you notice yourself fidgeting, drop your hand to your thumb. Notice the distinct, structural friction of the hammered divots against the smooth curves of the spiral. Tracing your fingers around this continuous, textured loop offers a highly focused, satisfying tactile path, gently inviting your nervous system to settle and anchoring you firmly in the present moment.
 
A Note on Raw Copper: I choose to work with raw, uncoated copper for its beautiful, ancient energy and natural warmth. Because it is unplated, it will gradually oxidize and develop a rich, earthy patina over time. You may also notice it leaving a faint green mark on your skin—this is a completely harmless, natural reaction between bare copper and your skin's unique pH and natural oils. The mark washes away easily with soap and water. If you prefer to prevent this natural transfer, you can easily apply a thin coat of clear nail polish to the inside of the ring.

The Process: Hand-shaped, hammer-forged on a steel block for texture and strength, and hand-polished.
Sizing: The bypass spiral design makes this ring gently adjustable, but please leave your approximate UK ring size in the notes at checkout so I can size it perfectly for your thumb.

As each piece is made to order, I am unable to accept returns or exchanges unless the item is faulty or not as described. If there is a problem with your order, please contact me as soon as possible and I will do my best to put it right.
Cancellations
Orders may be cancelled within 24 hours of purchase. Once making has begun, the order becomes non-refundable.
